“Be More Chill” composer/lyricist Joe Iconis will be competing against himself tonight (Saturday Aug. 17, 2019) in two different venues.

While on stage at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, with a work-in-progress presentation of  his new musical “Love in Hate Nation” beginning at 7 p.m., he also will be featured at 7:30  p.m. on the weekly TV series “On Stage ” presented by Spectrum News NY1.

The 30-minute show hosted by Frank DiLella is a must for theater lovers. Forgetaboutit. Tickets are long gone. But the full-production is scheduled to run from Nov. 9 through Dec. 1, 2019,  and ticket information is available here.

With music, book and lyrics by Iconis  — find out more about him here — and direction by John Simpkins — ditto –– , the musical is described as:

A turbulent rock romance set in a 1960s Juvie Hall, “Love in Hate Nation “uses classic “bad girl” movies as the inspiration for the story of young people caught between eras of a changing America. Susannah Son, 16, is carted off to the National Reformatory for Girls to get her head put on straight. There she meets the aggressively incorrigible Sheila Nail, and a relationship forms which leads to an all-out “revolution in the institution” as they attempt to break out of the boxes society has created around them. Girl Group Wall of Sound harmonies are filtered through a punk rock spirit in this rebellious and romantic new musical.
