‘Fosse/Verdon’ debuts tonite on FX TV with Rockwell/ Williams

If you love musical theater, the man who reinvented  the Broadway musical and his muse, star in the new limited series  “Fosse/Verdon starring Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams beginning tonight at 10 p.m. on FX TV.

Developed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and his “Hamilton ” collaborators, plus a bunch of theater favorites and  Broadway stars.

Broadway vets themselves, Rockwell and Michelle play the unique choreographer and dancer who collaborated on “Sweet Charity,” “Damn Yankees” and “Chicago” and  were married (third wife, Sept. 1960-Sept. 1971) as well as frequent partners  offstage.

Other theater rats playing well-known theater makers include such Broadway figures as Kelli Barrett as Liza Minnelli, Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera, Norbert Leo Butz as Paddy Chayefsky, Ethan Slater as Joel Grey, and Laura Osnes as Shirley MacLaine.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is an executive producer on the series, along with Thomas Kail (who directed the pilot), Dear Evan Hansen scribe Steven Levenson (who wrote the pilot and serves as showrunner), Fosse and Verdon’s daughter Nicole Fosse, George Stelzner, and Joel Fields. Andy Blankenbuehler serves as choreographer on the series with Broadway alum Susan Misner, with Alex Lacamoire as supervising music producer.
